Scott Lawton is an American conductor, pianist and composer based in Germany. He has conducted the German Film Orchestra based in Potsdam for over 30 years. Together with this orchestra he has presented an unusually broad repertoire of film music.

His crossover collaborations with major popular artists – for example, Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Omara Portuondo (Buena Vista Social Club), Scorpions, Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), Terence Blanchard or José Carreras – have been presented with orchestras all over Europe and have often been featured in television.

He has led major musical theater productions such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Chicago, 42nd St or Miss Saigon in Vienna, Munich, Stuttgart and Berlin.

Lawton is an accomplished  pianist and has presented Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in the Berlin Philharmonic Hall and the Potsdam Nikolaisaal as both solist and conductor. 

Lawton is a versatile moderator, who enjoys enhancing an audience’s concert experience with interesting background information.
